Why is this event significant? "World War II because it was the main Allied invasion of continental Europe."

All have the statement this is ww2, yet many things go at the top of this war, and many people and events.
What makes them appropriate and relevant for investigating your event? They understand the need and they want to remember the past.
What was your thought process when you were searching for sources? I grasp that for writing a paper for academic you need to have reliable accreditations.
How did you make choices?
There are many that could be used, I started with the obvious was history, and to start Bing searching.
